Mang Thit: A Journey from Man Thit.

According to some research materials, the name “Mang Thít” originated from the name “Mân Thít.” The majority assume that “Mân Thít” has its roots in the Khmer word “Băng – brít,” meaning a riverbank or a large water basin. However, some people explain “Băng – brít” as meaning “lotus pond,” as in ancient times, the river’s flow was not strong, and many lotus and water lily flowers grew on both banks. From there, locals referred to it as the “Mân Thít River” or simply “Mân River.” Gradually, through colloquial usage, the land where they lived became known as “Măng Thít.” As society developed, pronunciation also gradually shifted towards simplicity and ease of use. Hence, the name “Mang Thít” came into use and eventually became the official name of the “Red Kingdom” today.

Through many changes, from mergers, renaming, to dissolution and the formation of Mang Thít, this place has always carried a unique and majestic identity. Despite the hustle and bustle of life, the people of the Mân River have remained spirited, valuing their relationships, full of determination, and wholeheartedly preserving and promoting the distinctive culture of the Southwestern region of Vietnam.

For this very reason, Somo Farm Cửu Long, a child born and raised on this land, has a deep desire to dedicate itself and serve, to pass down and promote the impressive and truly distinctive cultural traits that define the land of Mang Thít.
