However, some people explain &#8220;B\u0103ng &#8211; br\u00edt&#8221; as meaning &#8220;lotus pond,&#8221; as in ancient times, the river&#8217;s flow was not strong, and many lotus and water lily flowers grew on both banks. From there, locals referred to it as the &#8220;M\u00e2n Th\u00edt River&#8221; or simply &#8220;M\u00e2n River.&#8221; Gradually, through colloquial usage, the land where they lived became known as &#8220;M\u0103ng Th\u00edt.&#8221; As society developed, pronunciation also gradually shifted towards simplicity and ease of use.
